NYSNA Solidarity Pledge

I pledge that I will not cross the picket line at any of the facilities at which our NYSNA sisters and brothers are striking.

NYSNA members have voted to authorize a strike to be conducted concurrently at Mt. Sinai, Presbyterian, and Montefiore systems throughout the city. This strike authorization is a direct result of hospital management refusing to negotiate in good faith around patient safety and staffing issues. In fact, management is refusing to continue negotiations unless NYSNA agrees to withdraw all nurse-patient ratio/safe staffing proposals. As a nurse in the New York City area, you may be approached by agency recruiters to work on a temporary basis at one of these facilities or, if you currently work per diem at any of these facilities, you may be asked to pick up shifts during the strike. We are strongly urging you not to cross the picket line or work in any capacity at any of the striking facilities. NYSNA nurses’ fight for safe patient care and a strong contract is our fight, too. You may recall that during our negotiations, we were able to use research into area standards and other nursing contracts to win gains for NYPNU nurses. We want to ensure that NYSNA gets the strongest contract possible so we can leverage their success in our future negotiations as well. And, of course, we want our entire community to have access to safe, quality care. Please stand in solidarity with our fellow union nurses and commit to not crossing any picket lines.
