What is the "recognition bonus"? Am I eligible?
In recognition of the extraordinary efforts of our members, NYPNU has come to an agreement with Northwell for a "Recognition Bonus". There are two parts to this bonus: monetary and vacation hours.
All NYPNU members (including part-time and per diems) are eligible for the Recognition Bonus.
MONETARY BONUS: UP TO $2,500
All full-time staff who worked on-site from March 8th through mid-May are eligible to receive lump sum bonus of $2,500 (reduced by applicable taxes and withholdings) the week of May 24, 2020.
All part-time, per diem, and newly hired staff who worked on-site during COVID-19 recognition period are eligible to receive the bonus payment prorated based on their actual hours worked on-site during COVID-19 Recognition Period, divided by the number of full weeks in the Recognition Period, and multiplied by 37.5 hours (and cannot exceed $2,500). Note, this is a summary of the equation.
To receive the recognition bonus, eligible employees must be on payroll on the payment date (week of May 24th).
VACATION BONUS: UP TO ONE WEEK
All full-time staff who worked on-site during the COVID-19 Recognition Period are eligible to receive an additional 37.5 paid vacation hours (COVID-19 Paid Time Reward Hours).
All part-time, per diem, and newly hired staff who worked on-site during COVID-19 recognition period are eligible to receive the COVID-19 Paid Time Reward Hours prorated based on their actual hours worked on-site during COVID-19 Recognition Period, divided by the number of full weeks in the Recognition Period, and multiplied by 37.5 hours (and cannot exceed the paid time reward for full-time employees).
Northwell will grant COVID-19 Paid Time Reward Hours the week of May 24, 2020. To receive the Reward Hours, eligible employees must be on the Hospital’s payroll on the grant date.
Once granted, the COVID-19 Paid Time Reward Hours will be the first paid time hours employees use. The Reward Hours may be carried over and used in subsequent years, but will not be paid out when an RN retires or terminates their employment.
